How many really take their vows to heart anymore? these promises have traditionally included the notions of affection ("love, comfort, keep"), faithfulness ("forsaking all others"), unconditionality ("for richer or for poorer", "in sickness and in health"), and permanence ("as long as we both shall live", "until death do us part"). It seems nowdays all you hear is cheating or abusing. How many keep their vows and how long have you been married?

Sometimes people think one vow (fidelity) is more important than the others. In my first marriage my wife violated her vows to honor, to respect and to cherish. I divorced her for that, more than for the "thing" she had with my best friend.

I am very much an Alpha male, with all the testosterone that implies. My current wife is disabled, from an injury recieved when she was 16. Her health has deteriorated since our wedding. Severely. The specifics, and their effects on our physical relationship, are not important. But I adore her. I love her, cherish her... the whole ticket. Faithful in body, faithful in heart, faithful in mind... In spite of her incapacity in certain areas, so is she. We've been together nearly seven years now. We will be till we die.

Do you want to understand what love is? How deep it can reach? Look at real man, not a tall boy pretending to be one.

Was for 10 years. The continuing trend here in the US is: when times become difficult, get a divorce. It is business for the lawyers and the courts but the children really get the business. The institution of marriage in the US is a joke and I will NEVER connect myself to that system again! Yea, what ever happened to "for better or for worse to death do us part" WHAT a joke! And LIE! Could be some Christianity lurking there as well. Hollywood also influenced traditional marriage and how do you feel from the heart? I thought the damn thing only pumped blood! Maybe the spirit made me do it!

Oh geez, please. This question is almost moronic! People don't go into marriage wanting to break their vows. Cheating, abusing, etc. is something that I'm sure no one planned but these come out when people aren't happy. Society dictates that you should stay with someone through all this, especially women, and they buy into it.Like you are this good saint that he needs because he is this big bad man who doesn't know better and you are the only one that can show him the errors of his ways. That is crap people try to sell you so you stay in abusive and degrading relationships.

I am not sure that those thing ever realy existed, that is to say any morte so the they do today, only that couples stuck together through all the mistreatment for fear of defamation, or getting a bad name amongst family and friends, I myself have kept all my vows, not because I was paying attention to them or not but simply because they line up directly with what I believe to be right, either by upbringing or natural understanding.

Been married 15 years. I take my vows very seriously. I can't say that I have been perfect...nobody is, but I do try to honor my wife. I have never cheated on her, but I have disappointed her a time or two. Still though, I strive for the ideal.

That is all you hear here! This is a site for problems, not joys. If you want good news, stay away from Yahoo A!, Dear Abby, and other advice columns. People tend to air problems, not fun. Good luck
