Yeah and ya know what Tom Selleck raised a good point when he said we should not treat the Opinions of a Celebrity as being greater or less than that of the Average person.
I don't like to listen to opinions of all Celebrities but when one actually makes an intellegent one I am happy to quote it such as when Alice Cooper said "don't let Rock stars tell ya who to vote for, us Rock stars dunno what is going on in DC."

The problem is, a lot of people buy into celebrities' political views. Famous people are more glamorous than politicians and I guess when you put a pretty paint job on something most people wouldn't give a second thought to it generates interest, if only superficial interest.
I agree with the sentiment you're expressing here though. People should stop backing celebrities in their political goals and get in touch with their representatives to express their own views.

properly enable's see who the Tories frequently remember upon for his or her celeb help. Frank Bruno. not precisely a political heavyweight(!). Jim "Nick Nick" Davidson - a legal duty together with his very un-computing gadget perspectives. Steve Davis. interesting. Ken Dodd (possibly he should be Chancellor). Labour have Eddie Izzard of their "camp". Sir Patrick Stewart. Richard Wilson. JK Rowling. The LibDems count number Sir John Cleese, Kate Winslet and Chris Martin as supporters. the repute backer is seen as an significant propaganda coup for a celebration. Unveiling them ought to entice the interest of folk who ought to otherwise not were in contact. the repute is also making a donation to the celebration. And the repute ought to have plans to develop right into a political candidate, following in the footsteps of Glenda Jackson.

Celebrities can focus attention on a problem. I don't mind what they do with their time and money.
In fact, I think that Bill Gates and Warren Buffett have done well for the earth with their donation of billions of bucks.
It's when they insist the others be forced to contribute thru taxes and govenmental policies that I have problems.
In addition, when it come to performers (such as Bono), as long as he doesn't include his views during his shows it's fine with me if he wants to end poverty.

Think about it. You get paid ridiculous amounts of money to entertain people. People love you, chase you with cameras and notepads wanting your autograph. You have nothing worthwhile to do with your time, other than work out so you look good, shop with all the money you have, and tell everyone how much your opinion matters.
I dont care what their opinions are. Its that so many other people beleive that if you get someone recognizable on your side, that makes your point more "right" than others. Look at the 9/11 conspiracy theorist....they have Charlie Sheen on their side. WFT does he know about the attacks?!?!?!

My favorite are the uneducated celebrities who did not finish college (or didn't attend at all) that call the politicians stupid. I don't like GWB either but I don't think he's stupid (tho he does often seem it). Impulsive and arrogant but not stupid.
But we are supposed to listen to what these celebrities say because they are famous - no other reason. Like they really need a PhD to smile for the camera.
