Sass & Class,
Okay, there's a few ways you can do this... The proper way is for you to first file a Fictitious Name Statement with your local County Clerk Office in the name of the charity/organization. If you go this route, you'll want to write up a "bylaw" or some kind of simple "operating agreement" that outlines what the charity/organization is for, who is involved, etc. After that, you will want to get an EIN number from the Department of Treasury (IRS). You can actually call them directly and they will give you an EIN number over the phone - make sure to tell them that your "entity" is a non-profit organization / charity.
Now if all of this is too complicated for what you need, then you can also open a personal checking account and entitle it with the name of the person that you want the monies to go to. Please be aware that if you do this, YOU are responsible for the collected funds and any tax liability that is out there.
Lastly, your local bank (try Wells Fargo, BoA or even Washington Mutual) should be able to open up a simple Non-Profit or Basic Business checking account for you in the name of the deceased. Most likely they are going to ask for some documents to prove that the entity that you have created is indeed a non-profit (please reference above).
If you have any other questions, please ask! I am a Business Banker for a nationwide financial institution.
Regards and good luck!!!

All i know is that, by employing the solutions I see published by employing the guy in question, i might say that i do no longer likely think of the element is to get appropriate answer or TC prestige. i think that the excellent element in answering any question, by employing any skill, is purely a cleansing soap-container for him to spout despite "message" is his factor to the day. all of the solutions I easily have ever seen are actually not open to dialogue or rebuttal by way of fact he, in his very own innovations, is often precise and is the only one with the "certainty" which will desire to be "shared" whether or no longer you're listening. Methinks it quite is somebody in love with the sound of his very own voice yet, here, it would be written. even with the incontrovertible fact that I purely pass him by employing, as i might any long-winded bore at a party. i do no longer problem to gang up on him. he's not of any problem to me, and that i do no longer desire any harm to him in any respect. It keeps him busy! *smile* Peace all.
