Gravity holds the little clumps of stuff together that turn into a planet over a period of 450,000,000 years or so. Our planet was born out of gravity.

When a star burns up all its hydrogen fuel there is no longer a nuclear reaction holding all the atoms apart at the star's core, so gravity condenses the star's remains down into a tiny little tightly packed wad. Depending on how big the star was to begin with, we call these wads different things. White dwarfs, neutron stars, pulsars, and sometimes black holes. All of these things are born of gravity and the death of a star.

Supernova aftermath. Overtime, supernova remnants condense due to gravity and generate starbirth. A prime example of this is M-42, the Orion Nebula. Also, the Eagle Nebula.
