If you are looking for something a little different than the ordinary (monopoly, sorry, etc.) One of my favorites is "The Settlers of Catan." It is a good combination of strategy and luck, and it is highly addictive.

It really depends on what's "fun" to you. Some people find Chess fun, and some think it's a total bore. Some people like Monopoly, and others hate the roll-and-move thing.
My personal favorite is a game called The Princes of Florence (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/555). It's a so-called Eurogame (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Designer_game).

I prefer a game called Empire Builder. However, I like games that are somewhat longer (1-1/2 to 2 hours or more), involve connections, and are related to trains. That may not be your cup of tea.

Cranium is great if u have enough people because its better with more people. Tripoly is a fun card game/board game.
Encore if you like music and know lots of songs its a lot of fun.And catch frase is fun in big groups

Tripoly is fun! We've actually had Tripoly Marathons on family vacations, where we play for many, many hours! It's a 3 in one card type game. You can use the chips provided in the game, or do as we do and play with nickels.

Clue. Best game ever. It's very easy to pick up and is lot's of fun. Or scene it there's many different versions of it and there all very fun.

Cranium... Its a mix of all kinds of games... It has acting of all kinds(mimes, acting like a famouus person and out right acting something out) Drawing and modeling clay (it comes with purple playdo like substance) Answering questions, and a catagory with stuff life spelling words backwards and trying to unscramble words. Most people can find one of the catagories that they are good at and like to do... it good for a big crowd.
