I do not believe that Federal Judges should be seated for a lifetime appointment, however i do believe in limited terms or some kind of review for a federal judge. We only keep a President in term for 4 to 8 years and sometimes shorter if the president is up to no good like Nixon or Clinton---ella

The rationale of the lifetime appointments is so that judges are not unduly influenced by things such as re-election and thus are not susceptible to lobbyists or bribery.

Now if it really worked that way it would ne nice!

It depends who appoints them. Appoints by George Bush should be over in 1 month.

i think that they should have lifetime appointments but instead of being approved by congress they should be approved by the american people. just like a president.

Lifetime appointments. But when they start to make stupid decisions they need to be euthanized.

When they start getting old (say normal retirement age of 65) they should step down on their own. William Rehnquist was there way too long, he should have stepped down when his health got bad.

It really doesn't matter. They will do what ever they want any way and if they can't for some unknown reason they will change the laws to make it so they can.
