the worm in my tequila. Does that make me a hypocrite, or does a worm even count?

2006-07-07 11:50:59 · 45 answers · asked by Professor Chaos386 4 in Politics & Government Law & Ethics

I'm pretty sure I did it on purpose, based on reading my questions from last night. I remember thinking about it...

And I am a vegetarian by choice.

First vets save animals life
The worm is insect not an animal.
You were drinking tequila, while you swallow, not looking for worms to have a lunch right?
Finally, I do not know if you apply the term "Hypocrite" accordingly, because this was an accident.

Hypocrisy is the act of pretending to have morals or virtues that one does not truly possess or practice. The word derives from the late Latin hypocrisis and Greek hupokrisis both meaning play-acting or pretence. The word is arguably derived from hypo- meaning under, + krinein meaning to decide/to dispute.[citation needed] A classic example of a hypocritical act is to denounce another for carrying out some action while carrying out the same action oneself.

Moreso than anything else, it would depend on the beliefs that lead you to vegetarianism.

Are you vegetarian beacuse you don't like meat? Or because you don't feel it's right to murder cows, etc.?

If you're only vegetarian as a dietary solution. No, you're not a hypocrite at all. If you are vegetarian because of morals, then of course! A worm is a living creature. What makes it alright to kill him and not a cow?

Depending on your reasons to be a vegetarian? If you think that any kind of living animal shouldn't be eaten, then YES you are a hypocrite. If you are a VEGAN, I am sure you shouldn't have eaten the worm or even drank the Tequilla that had the worm in it.

The worm does count, but no, you're not a hypocrite. You were probably intoxicated, which leads you to another philosophical question: are you responsible for lapses in judgement when an external stimulus (ie. alcohol) clouds it?

Hmm...maybe since you "chose" to drink the tequila, you are responsible, but not a hypocrite.

Well, I'm afraid that was technically an animal. Who cares though, your not a hypocrite! I love animals dearly and I eat meat all the time... I've never swallowed the worm in a tequilla, but I'm not even old enough to drink it.

You are not a hypocrite. It happens sometimes but that doesn't make you a non-vegetarian all together. You are being a vegetarian as a choice. What has other people to do with it? You can't keep justifying what you do to everybody. You have accepted that it happened that itself proves that you are not a hypocrite, Right!

Yes, you are a hypocrite. I find that most vegetarians are vegetarians because they want constant attention. It is always me, me, I have to be treated differently than everyone else at the table whose parents taught them to eat what was put before them and be thankful that someone will put food before you.

Think of all the cows and chickens that would never be born if we didn't eat them.

You did not evolve eating seeds and leaves. You evolved eating meat with those seeds and leaves.

Did you know that if you are strictly vegetarian all your life that you will die early from lack of certain B vitamins that are only found in the flesh of animals?

Don't stress it man, it was pure protein...soaked in complete firewater that probably could remove paint off a car, but hey..it was all about getting the best shot out of the bottle right? i wouldn't let that bother me too much, most vegetarians are full of much larger hypocrisy, like they will where leather boots cause they are fashionable...they won't eat it but they wear it??? Yeah ok, next month they will be a pagan...If you make this choice on your own for your personal reasons, i commend u for at least staying committed, you could always go fess up at a relapse vegetarians anonymous meeting, its just like confession 4 catholics..wipe the slate clean and start over.
