I know when something itches it's hard not to scratch them, but don't. More than likely they are some kind of hives, but until you talk to your doctor I would NOT take any kind of medication or put on any topical medication.

Cold things will help the itching to stop. Get in a cool shower when it gets bad or a bath (depending on how far along you are and if you can get in and out of the tub easily). If not, then just get some wash rags, get them wet and put them in the freezer for a little while (inside a baggie). When you itch, put the baggie on where you are itching.

You don't say how long it's been since you called your doctor so I don't know how long you've been waiting. If it's been about an hour, I'd call again. If not, wait a little bit.

If you wanted, you could actually call the hospital where you are going to deliver and ask for the Labor and Delivery department. Tell them you are a patient of (and tell them your doctor's name). Tell them the problem you are having and that you have called him but he hasn't returned your call and you are miserable. Ask them if he is on call (meaning he will be taking his patients if they come in to deliver) or did he sign out to someone else (that could by why he hasn't called you back yet). I

Either way, ask them what you should do. They may even page him for you.

Good luck! I know how horrible it can be. I broke out in a rash that itched horribly with my first pregnancy and ended up having to see an infectious disease doctor for it. It was hives, but we never figured out what I got them from.

He had me get in the cool showers (I had a summer pregnancy also!)...and he gave me some kind of cream to use, but the showers helped the most. He even told me I could get into a cool bath with some of the Alveno oatmeal baths and that also felt nice (but I needed my husband home to help me out of the tub!).

Good luck and hang in there!

Hives usually are flat on top. Kinda like a plateau. My dermatologist also told me to switch my body soap every 6 months because sometimes your body becomes over sensitive to the ingredients and perfumes.

if you are past your first trimester, you can take benadryl, but I am not sure I would do that until your dr gets back with you. Sounds like you are allergic to something. Have you changed detergents, perfumes, bath soap, material in clothing, or anything lately? You can also develop allergies to new things. Try cutting down one at a time on them (as in, don't use your regular perfume for a week. if that doesn't help, use a baby laundry detergent for a week because it won't have any skin irritants in it, if that doesn't help, try something else.)

Sounds like hives... are you eatting anything different? New vitamins?

I'd say - wait for the doc to call - do you have a fever?

You could also call your local hospital and ask to talk to a nurse - or see if they have an 'ask a nurse' hotline.

If they look like paint ball splatters then they are hives. If not you have somehing else. You are probably just nervous or have had an allergic reaction to something. Calm down everything will be fine.

YOU DID THE RIGHT THING BY CALLING YOUR DOCTOR...BUT HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN SINCE YOU CALLED...IF I WERE YOU I WOULD CALL AGAIN....IF YOU DON'T GET AN ANSWER THAN ...YOU TRY CALLING YOUR PHARMACIST AND SEE IF HE CAN HELP YOU OUT....IT SOUNDS LIKE HIVES BUT IT MIGHT NOT BE .....I WOULD TELL YOU TO TAKE SOME BENADRL FOR THE ICTHING BUT I'M NOT A DOCTOR AND I'M NOT SURE IF YOU CAN HAVE THAT WHILE PREGNANT...A COOL SHOWER MAY HELP SOME TILL YOU FIND OUT FOR SURE....GOOD LUCK

I had this too! Around the same time in my pregancy. It started at my feet and worked it's way up my legs. I had to go to a dermetologist because my OB didn't know. I had to use a steriod creme (clear w/you OB first!) I suggest going to a derm DR - you should be at your bi-weekly check up, so ask your OB then - but be persistant, they should be returning your call. Good luck!

They could be hives. Your baby maybe allergic to something that you're not and that could be causing them. It could also be a heat raash maybe if it's humid!
