Prostitution is said to be the oldest profession. What do you think makes people decide to go into prostitution? They say it is just like any other job. Is it?

No, because although the pay is "great", I have dignity and modesty and I like myself for who I am. If I want to have sex, I will decide where and with whom, not just for pay.
It is not like other jobs, because it is self degrading.

no, not like any other job. It is a unique job.
An honorable job.
In France Marie Antoinette time there where courtesans, females trained from birth to perform like an LA actor in politeness and know how...if u know what I mean!
Then you have Toronto now allowing any female the same rights as a male...free and legal to walk down the main streets bare breasted.
I think most now a days do it for the money.
Anywhere from $20 to $2,000 ha more probably.

PS a note to Trapz ... It would take an enormous amount of courage and with much self esteem to choose a career like prostitution, let alone actually do it. Single mothers with no way out know this and if their intentions are honorable and true... I say congratulations ...go for it.
This trade has been legal and illegal over history for generations, which is it sir, what time period to you honor. (i think I know)

Well i think that is what a lot of people think o other countries do. As Americans we hold our selves up to a different standard. Not better or worse just different. I think people go into the profession because a) they don't mind sex and think being a Hooker is a decent job. B) trey need the money or )c they are forced into it. I don't think it is just like any other job because you normally don't go to work naked and you don't normally fake an organism at work. But you do pride a service.

Prostitution is never the answers. It is illegal (i think) and it's terible for your health. With having sex with strangers can lead to many things such as STDS and of course pregnancy.
People who decide to go into prostitution obviously have no common sense. It's not like any other job, it's worse.
I hope you're not asking this because you're considering it.

No I wouldn't go into prostitution. If you are proud of who you are, and have a well established self esteem, then you would never think about going into prostitution even if you are poor and needy.
People probably choose prostitutuion as job because, they suffer from poor self esteem, they live superficial lives, etc.

I don't think they do it to escape poverty. Most streetwalkers are junkies, and probably riddled with disease. The higher end (escort services and what not) are just looking for easy money.
If a woman needs that kind of quick cash, she can strip. They'll make more money and not catch a disease.

I can't speak from experience, but I think that I would work at McDonald's first. I would hate to become so numb to intimacy that it didn't mean anything. It would be a tough choice to make and I don't really think that it is something for everyone.
