Your doctor might suggest: traction for a serious strain, a coarse of heat massage and electeical stimulation, ask a DR. if its serious and lasts for an unusual time.
If its minor and you're not tooo worried, try a warm bath or shower, a heating pad.
A Dr. once told me to avoid future strain not to try any new exercise or activity for more than 20 minutes, then stop and wait (about 10 min) for your brain to catch up and tell you if its too much too soon,

www.oxypowder.com, I have had muscle spasms in my lower back from physical labor, this stuff took care of it, seriously! I don't do muscle relaxers, as they will mess up your mind. I was having spasms in my lower back, on a regular basis because of my job, I lifted doors, whenever I was relaxing on the weekend, or during the holidays when the back would relax, the muscles in the lower back would spasm up; I was in excruciating pain. I was tired of the muscle relaxers & pain killers. This oxypowder works, & I am glad I found it, and tried it. Aside from a heat pad for 10 minutes only, I used the oxypowder for one week, it is worth every penny, I haven't had a lower back pain since the Christmas holiday, of 2005.

Apply an ice pack for twenty minutes 3 times a day for 2 days. After that use heating pad. Hang from a chin up bar for 30 seconds 3 times a day.

Are you sure it's a muscle strain and not kidney stones or a bladder infection? You may want to have a checkup.
