If you've made up your mind to vote, there are two general schools of thought: Vote for a candidate simply as a vote against the other one or vote for the one you truly hope to win. What are your values? What do you think are top priorities that require your candidates attention? Has he or she ever indicated in interest in them? Ever actually done anything to improve them? Careful about disqualifying people because of past mistakes or indiscretions. Remember, we're only dealing with human beings. What do you think about a computer running things? No skeletons in its closet but it could be programmed with our laws, our history and our goals but no "feelings". Would we be better off?

What do you want to happen?
Choose the person that is most suited to your personal beliefs, as did America when they voted for Bush.
Is there a valid reason that anyone is capable of delivering what is right? Absolutely not. If you believe the person can do the job in the interest of the whole, then yes vote for them. If not, don't.
You could also choose not to invoke your rights not to vote, I don't see where that would serve anyone's interest or purpose.

Good question, but so far - I think democrats are the "lesser" evil of the two major political parties. Another good tip would be to look at the lives - track record of the members of congress/governmental representatives WHO THEY SUPPORTED in the past. I bet if you really look closely at who Bush has supported, you'll find the creme de la creme of right wing, greedy, hypocritical, hot air blowin', crooked, anti-immigration, pro-welfare cuttin', national arms interested, son-of-a racism, should be mother of Hitler --uuuuggghhhhhies!!!

Check out a candidates voting record. Thats what realy counts. If you dont like the one in office at the moment ( for WHATEVER reason ) , choose someone with a voting record you feel you can stand behind. If the candidate you want has no voting record, you pays yo money and you takes yo chances. If they dont work out, you got no one to blame but yourself. Thats politics in America 101.

I like the Hitch Hikers Guide View, that anyone who wants to be in power is automatically a bad choice.

This is a bit like asking how one can choose one's parents. By the time you take notice of good candidates, it's too late.
