Yahoo slows down startup tremendously and the IM has stopped working for my daughter with whom I used IM. Don't need it. Want to get rid of it.

Go to start>search ...files and folders,,,here type in Yahoo Messenger do a search then right click and delete everything which shows in the search window..last,restart your computer

This is a general answer to most computer problems, so it may or may not work. 1. press Start then Run. 2. type in "msconfig" 3. go to the "startup" tab. now this gets a little tricky you will see all the programs that start when your computer starts-up you need to uncheck all the programs that you do not need. The tricky part is what you determine what programs you need or do not need to start when the computer starts. Personally I only have the firewall and anti-virus software start. good luck

i hope by uninstall, u dont mean just delete icons n stuff.. go to the control pannel, and then add remove programs, and then scroll down to yahoo messenger stuff and remove it all that way.
there is also a yahoo messenger option in the preferences to set it so it doesnt start when u log in.

type msconfig in run option in menu,go to last tab startup,remove yahoo from there...best of luck

open up the program and go to its preferences

there will be sumthing to select to not to automatically start
