If you have regular, 26 to 30-day cycles, then you should be most fertile between days 9 to 17 of the cycle, or about two weeks before your period is due. It's not necessary [or advisable] to have sex each day during this time; every other day should be more than enough. This is because spermatozoa stay alive into the female's reproductive tract for up to five days after intercourse; thus, fertilization may take place even if you don't have sex on the exact same day that you ovulate. You may wish to determine your most fertile days using an at-home ovulation predictor kit; these are available on most pharmacies and are cheap [about $25 for a 7-day testing kit], fairly accurate and very easy to use. Make sure to read the instructions provided with the kit beforehand so you familiarize yourself with the proper way in which it must be used. Good luck, and my best wishes for a healthy pregnancy real soon!

Yes it is entirely possible - not only because the menstrual cycle can vary and several factors can contribute to this, altering the time that the period comes, but there is also the possibility of spontaneous ovulation. While you are way less likely to get pregnant a week before your period is due (assuming it's regular), it is possible. If you are trying to get pregnant you need to aim to have sex often around days 9-15 of a regular 28 day cycle. Check out the book Taking charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler

Yes you can become pregnant. While most women traditionally are fertile between the 13th and 17th day following the first day of their last period, you can become pregnant at any time during your cycle, including during your period. Women often have a thick mucus-like discharge signalling this period of fertility. Additionally, you may not release an egg with every cycle which is why OBGYN's recommmend you not get discouraged within the first few months of attempting to get pregnant. If you have been trying to become pregnant for more than a year, you should see your OBGYN to discuss fertility options and issues.

Try having sex 10-15 days after the first day you start bleeding. You can ovulate anytime, however this is the most common time if your period comes 28-30 days.

When I was trying for my son I read some where that every other day is best but it depends on when you ovulate, i bought an ovulation predicter kit, just like taking a pregnancy test, i got pregnant a few weeks after that. it just let me know when i needed to and it worked i remember running into the living and grabbing my husband. i have a 2 yr old now.

A week before your period in most cases is too late, as ovulation would have already occurred. Ovulation usually occurs around the middle of your cycle, so the best time to try is 5 days before ovulation, and for up to 24 hours after ovulation. Ovulation can be detected by noting your cervicial mucus- when you are ovulating it is clear and stringy. You can also track your cycles and determine when you are ovulating by using store bought ovulation predictor kits, testing your basal temp, or using a combination of these methods.

Pregnancy is possible at ANY time in the cycle, because with two ovaries, they could ovulate and release eggs at different times. The odds of getting pregnant decrease during your period, and are highest two weeks after - it's all about luck.

There is a slight possibility.
Some girls ovulate later in the month.

If you WANT to get pregnant, you best bet is to have sex every other day for most of your cycle or at least in the middle of your cycle.

If you are wanting to get pregnant, then you need to do it in a certain time frame - when you ovulate.
Serena has a wonderful program that will help you predict this and make decisions accordingly.
