As an American citizen, I think the homeless/hungry in the US should be our first priority, not other countries.

To me, being an American, the hurting here are the most important people to me. Although, if I lived in another country, then those folks would be my priority.

I agree that our focus should and needs to be on our neighbors in our own communities but some foreign lands do not have the ability to tend to their neediest.

If we only looked out for ourselves, who would help the areas that can't help themselves? We are all God's children and we all deserve to be free from want.

It's a tough choice to make.

The hungry and homeless here are just that.. hungry and homeless. They have shelters they can go to when they need it, soup kitchens available to them at times, they can beg for money for food. Yes they do need to be helped but they are receiving more help then a lot of people are. There are fugitives that are forced from their homes due to violence that have to take their children with them and pray everyday to find a wild animal to kill or some water in the desert. They have to hope they will stumble upon a camp where they will find kind people from America and other countries that will help them eat and provide some security. We are one people no matter what country we come from. Everyone around the world needs help if we can keep as many people going as possible, help everyone a little bit until they can help themselves, that is worth so much more to me than to help a few people out a lot.

ALL humans are important. I am an American too, yes you take care of your own AND help others. This is a country that is spending BILLIONS on a war that could go to feed, clothe and house ALL the hungry and homeless! This country has many programs to help those in need. The poor of this country do not compare to the poor of some other countries, for example Africa. Now that is REALLY poor, they have virtually nothing in some places, that isn't the case here.

I disagree, the homeless and hungry here have plenty of opportunities to get help. We have welfare and soup kitchens, a lot of 3rd world countries do not. Just b/c starving children aren't in your backyard doesn't mean they aren't in someone else's.

It makes no vast difference to me. i'm apprehensive about what's merely excellent for u.s. in ordinary words, not for the way others view u.s.. Secondly, different international places love us in spite of what the media tells you. I actually have traveled throughout Europe and Asia in the course of Bush's administration and performance gained not some thing yet hand shakes, a lager or 2, and geniune envy of our u . s . a ..

Well I am so happy that you see the hypocrisy in the leadership of this god-less Government. They know that without poor people this country would become socialist which would destroy the capitalism that we enjoy so much.

I think we need to take care of our own before we help others. Charity begins in the home.
