We definately use the electromagnetic force as a power source! All you need to do is to induce a current in a wire by passing a magnet through the electrical field generated by the electrons in the metal in the wire. This is how every power plant in the world works. Coal, natural gas, even nuclear plants all rely on heating water into steam, which drives turbines that rotate electromagnets thorugh banks of wires to create an electrical current.
