Sorry I wasn't clear..I am helping a friend who is looking to buy a boat and it is for lake use only.

Thanks for the inout, but guess I still wasn't clear as used boats were mentioned. My friend is looking at new boats only. Thanks for the idea of looking at the Yamahas. There's a couple of really nice ones that might work.

I would say Crownline or Eleminator
ocean going
or Lake use only
or river use
or OFF SHORE SUPER RACER

That's a good price range for a used ski/wake boat. You'll get the best price probably on ebay:

Plenty other websites out there, boattrader, etc. Some ski/wakeboard sites with classified forums (those will mostly be well maintained, but well used). Do your research on the boats & models. AND when buying a used boat be careful to check the insurance database to make sure it wasn't damaged after all the hurricanes & such.

As a general rule, you shouldn't buy a boat during the summer. Come fall, when the owner has started to forget how much fun it was, is looking at a bill for winterization & storage, and BEFORE the new models come out & get people thinking about it again & starting to look forward to how much fun it will be. I've always found the best deals around Oct, but it varies depending on when Spring starts in the sale area. I personally like Mastercraft, but a nice Malibu or Tige is pretty good too. There are several manufactures with long-standing reputations & excellent boats. I'd try not to get anything more than 6-8 years old, but you can get one hell of a boat for that price. I'd even try to get it a little cheaper so I could still pay for transport, mech checkout, title, insurance, etc. Good Luck!

You might want to look at the Yamaha's they go for that range and they are off the hook.
