Ah, the mystery.
Your journey of inquiry, emotion and sense of self will be your tools.
You may find that the question has no answer, has infinite answers, or both.
We have the ability to understand that we will die, and so, our sense of self and mortality drives us to do and think all sorts of things - from murder and suicide on one end of the spectrum to extreme altruism on the other.
I like to work from the premise of trying to live by the virtues. Politeness, fidelity, prudence, temperance, courage, justice, generosity, compassion, mercy, gratitude, humility, simplicity, tolerance, purity, gentleness, good faith, humor and love are apsects of living that allow me to feel better about myself while they support the pursuits and benefit of others.
It's when I lose myself in others that I feel most myself and meaningful.
That's the very condensed version for myself. I hope it will provide you with some interesting questions.

ok well as I am being catholic I don't really understand the whole thing and I think I am old enough to understand. Your religion is just the way you are brought up. Your parents chose a religion for you because you are too young to chose for yourself. Then as you get older you can learn about other religions and convert. I guess the point of living as a catholic would be to appreciate God's gift and see if we behave well enough to get into Heaven. Still I don't quite understand the whole concept although I go to church almost every sunday and to a catholic school.

When you ask yourself: "What is the point of living?" whatever pops into your head at that moment is the point of living! The point of living changes continually as you age right up to the moment of death I suppose.
Many try to take a more reflective, philosophical attitude toward the question and they imagine themselves dying while asking themselves for the last time "What was the point of living?" and whatever then pops into their awareness is probably the most important of all possible points of living--at least until the next time they take the time to reflect once again on the point(s) of living from their deathbed.

The point of living has nothing to do with religion. All religion does on a macro scale is provide a rational to divide people from one another.
The point of living is whatever you find in this world worth living for.

Life should be about how man battles against forces of Nature and how he survives against all odds. However, after the formation of city-states and societies, life has become a lesser experience.
Society and its sources of control reduce human value and manipulate people to live their lives according to what is selected for each individual, in terms of careers even in terms of how one lives and dies. The individual thus, deals with a poor rate of exchange in the Social Contract.
One would only ask what is the point of living if one feels that they have no pleasure and control over their lives. It is an accepted philosophical question often related to thinkers such as Descartes, Plato and Aristotle, to name a few. I would suggest that ultimately, it is not a philosophical question, it is a political question. Philosophy may do better to ask questions about pure discovery in terms of language, science and how one thinks freeing itself from asking questions that are obviously about politics, rights and law. Rousseau may have wished to indicate that Social Man shall always be weaker than Natural Man because after getting the short end of the deal in the Social Contract, Social Man will forever be concerned with his own despair after giving over his life's energy to strengthening a society that cares nothing for him and his wishes.

We each must find our own purpose, that's why there is no one reason, although I read some pretty good ones (especially the chocolate one, excellent). We each have a purpose, you must seek out yours and fulfill it or this sense of unfulfillment will follow you to your grave. Some of our purposes may be grand, while others may seem trivial, but we all have a role to play. No one can tell you what your purpose is . . . I'm sorry . . . but you will find it or it will find you. When it does, recognize it and embrace it and you will find that things become much more clear.

Evolution is the point, education can make evolution faster.and behind everything that we do is enjoyment , we are looking for kinda enjoyment,
most of ppl inherit their religion, but its like a duty to think and find best one. but as i said, most of ppl inherit their religion and they live in faith of it, i'm muslim, i believe that when u cant investigate to chose one, its not so important to have an special religion, just live like a human, trying to understand others and help them, trying to enjoy life in right way, this is the point, if you do these automatically you are walking in evolution road , if u dont make profit for others dont make them harm.

For me the point in living is destiny. Not mine, but others. Every thing one does (or says) can potentially (if even slightly) change the future for someone else. No religion here, just my thoughts. :)

hmmm the reason , the creator gave use rules to live by but man as usual man has put his own thoughts in place of His. the best answer i can give is to live, procreate, help others, build cities, grow older, give wisdom , and pass to the next world. there are so many people who belive they have the true word of god , but you will find his will in your own conscience.
