I have always offered to pay my own way. Most of the time he will not take it. But I believe the protocol is whoever asks for the date, pays for the date.

The man should pay for the dates especially in the begining for the privelge of taking out a lovely lady. If the relationship develops over time i would say 60/40 the man will/should pay
.
The only other factor to consider is if one person makes considerably more money than the other that person might look to foot a little bit more of the bill!!

Are you truly dating or are you "living together" or having sexual relations?
If you are truly dating---as it should be if you are not married---then the man would pay for the dates or you could agree to "go Dutch," which means to split the costs.
If you are sleeping together or living together, then there isn't anything that will help that situation. If he's paying for everything, then you're just a live in prostitute. As soon as he's finished with his business, you will probably be told to leave.

It really depends where you are in the world because sometimes Culture / Tradition has something to do with it.
I believe that once already dating, then paying for dinner, movies, etc...should take turns, for trips...50-50. Unless one offers to pay the entire lot..or one of you could pay for the airfare while the other pays for the accommodation.

I think that on the first date U should split the cost of food etc. evenly. Then later on the men should pay. But never eat alot cause usually men get irratated when they hav to pay too much

The one doing the asking.
But I'll tell you this......I stopped seeing a man who got insulted at the idea of paying for anyone but himself. Took a second look at the man who I would eventually marry who is very generous.
That's just the way the world works, as it turns out.

It should be a two way thing, you should pay for some he should pay for some. Or even go half on the entire trip. Its not fair to have one person pay for everything all the time.

I think it should be whom ever invited the other that pays.If it was a mutual decision then you each should pay for yourselves.
Unless the gentleman would like to pay, then I say let him!
