aside from going to grad school to become a sociologist, a major in sociology is not like a major in pre-law, journalism, or other professional training majors. however, it is much like a major in biology--you can get a job that needs skills learned in labs, etc. Similarly, a major in sociology gives you basic skill necessary in many professions: statistics, deep understanding of theoretical affairs, some psychology, some economics, and some anthropology. Any organization that deals with many people and makes decisions based on evidence would be happy to hire a person with such skills (but you have to take statistics)

Journalism is a good one. I want to be a journalist but I want to major in Sociology.

Be a social worker in several job departments etc. I had a minor in Sociology, it's a great subject.

A sociology major is good to be applied to another major, such as business. With business, you can become a marketing consultant.

carpenter, cab driver......sorry, i know soc/psyc majors who have gone into a variety of service fields - teaching, law enforcement, counseling......but you can get a job doing anything -do something rewarding......what do you really want to do? do that..
