Some people want proof fo whatever they are being told. They need it to make sure it is correct and not some lie that they are being told.

I am an empiricist myself.

I have trouble understanding people who are so much into Christianity for example that they feel the Lord is speaking to them or did a miracle for them. I've never seen this happen, so I don't believe it. I always ask them to take me to one of those faith healing sessions where somebody had both legs amputated and have them grow two more legs on this person before our eyes and then you will make a believer out of me!

It's not a problem if you believe in something that you can't see, the problem comes when you dedicate your life to something that hasn't been proven yet. Examples of this obviously are God and alien life.

Do you believe in air, in oxygen? I sure hope you do cuz even though you can't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist... You are alive and breathing it aren't you...? If you are ignorant and still don't believe you must be a ZOMBIE!!!!!!!!!

Try reading some Descartes. "I think, therefore I am," is just the end of the proof. Your answer lies within the arguments of that proof.

Enjoy.
