Because humans aren't just all good or all evil. They're a paradox by nature (according to the bible). In a country led by a very religious man, it's very normal to see that paradox reclaimed on a daily bases.
I think all these people you speak of see the deaths in Iraq as the results of a crusade undertaken to protect their faith & lives; while they believe that all 'un-natural' copulation by definition is perverted.
Religion & fanaticism have always been close friends, sometimes they get married and people like you end up asking questions that can't really be answered.

Who said that killing 150,000 Iraqi civilians is 'right'? I've got a problem with both

Because the rest of the Iraqi's will be free! Whoopee-de-doo. Or free in the sense that we'll have imposed our idea of government, democracy, on them. And our government is influenced by Christians who pressure our government to ban gay rights, so, since this is a democracy (ha), our government can say that both support democracy!

Standards in America are about as backwards as they can possibly be, that's why.
The government sits around at a big oval table and says, "which decision makes the LEAST sense?" then "okay, let's do that!"
Need I comment on the religious beliefs of said government officials?

Must we go over this again? American forces didn't kill 150,000 Iraqi civilians. The overwhelming majority are killed by Baathists or Al-Qaeda.

must we go over this again?? George Bush is an idiot who should be impeached for war crimes. He is the real terrorist, chasing dreams of big oil when the person we NEED to go after (bin laden) is hiding in a mountain.
He has his morals twisted big time

The people who feel that way are usually the lowest level socio-economically speaking and have the least education. The others....well, they're just nuts.

This may be one of the best questions on this site. Perhaps Mr Bush could answer it for you, assuming he knows how to surf the Internet.
