First, there is only ONE RACE, and that is the human race. We all share 999 out of a thousand bases of DNA, which are the "letters" of our genetic code. The differences we see in people are caused by about 0.1% of our 3 billion bases. That is one out of a thousand. Every once in a while, there will be a change in one of those bases, called a mutation. This may result in death of the baby at an early age, like in a few weeks after conception, or it may bbe a change which is compatible with life, but causes the child to look slightly different. This change may or may not allow the child to be recognized by its group as a favorable child.

Humanity, or modern man, called Homo sapiens by scientists (for example, anthropologists and biologists) who spend a lifetime studying the origin of humans, now generally agree that the human race began in Africa, from just a few "Eves" more than a hundred thousand years ago.

One of the charaistics of man has been and still is, curiosity, eg. (what is on the other side of the forest) which led to migrations out of Africa, as did changes in climate, and many other factors, such as wars, which has caused the population of most all of the habitable places on the planet. But I am getting off the subject.

Because of the drifting of the Continents, different external characteristics of man began to be selected by different tribes, also for many different reasons; for example, dark skin color in Africans which was more protective against the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. Another example, members of Eskimo Tribes are shorter and have more body fat to protect them from the cold. But they also learn to tolerate the cold as a given when they are growing up.

These differences are referred to as ethnic groups. When a surgeon operates on a person, if they are not aware of the skin color of the patient, they are unable to tell which ethnic group a person belongs to. So inside us, we are all alike. All ethnic groups can have normal children together, and there will usually be a sort of a blend of each person's characteristics in the child.

Racism is learned behavior. It is most frequently learned from parents, who learned it from their parents, and so on back to the beginning of mankind. Why does racism exist, not an easy question to answer, but consider these factors.

When tribes were in competition for food, water, and other necessities of life, different appearance of one's body made it easier for tribal leaders to instill hatred of other groups or tribes.

It is complicated, has many aspects to consider, but the BOTTOM LINE is one first learns racism from one's family, friends, groups, culture, and so forth.

I was taught racism while I was growing up; it didn't ring true to me because the people I was taught were "inferior" was some of the nicest, kindest, wisest people I kenw as a child and that continues to be true in my adulthood. I looked into the subject when I was in junior high school and wrote an essay on racism. That began a journey for me to try to destroy or at least modify those feelings of "racism".

Unfortunately, until an alien race comes to this planet, to dhallenge us all, there will most likely always be some degree of "racism".

But you can learn the truth about "racism" and work during your life on this planet to change those ideas. The human race as a whole has many faults, that is another of the characteristics of our race and it is one of the reasons religion was developed by the wiser men of the ages. All of the TRUE RELIGIONS teach the same principle:

DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU

so, you have a choice, I trust you will make it a wise one.

Remember, every journey begins with a single step.

same things as to end poverty, the two are interconnected.
Racism is an modernly perpetuated by economic inequality, so we need to end poverty to end racism.

strange how all these issues interconnect, no?

The problem has become that white rich jerks (i am white) keep all the money and priveledges for themselves... and other races
don't get any breaks, so they go and do what they gotta to get ahead in the game...which means doing things that are criminal and etc. Its a vicious cycle. The only way to break the cycle is
to give everybody a fair shake at education and employment and
food and shelter.
