YEs you can use so called "audio" Cd's for recording photos. When data is recorded onto a CD all it is doing is etching little pits in a recordable surface with a laser. THese pits correspond to 1's and 0's that the computer can read. The data will be stored the exact same way on a music CDR, a data CDR or even a CD-RW.

The difference lies in the recordable material used. Music CDR's may have some different composition that makes them more durable, or more compatible with audio CD players.

Music/Audio are simply specific DATA formats. A CD-R disk doesn't must care what gets burned on it! Because it's all DATA regardless whether it's audio, video, picture or document DATA files.

So the answer is YES! Don't need any special CD disk types. Besides, there are only 2 types - CD-R and CDRW! CDRW disks are relatively ten times more expensive than a CD-R that cost a few cents.

Yep.

The CD-Rs that say they are for music/audio just means they are an optimal media for burning music since most people seem to want to do that and it sells more blank CDs. It doesn't matter what you put on the disk as long as it fits.

The R stands for Read only. Which means you get one shot at burning to the disk.
If you have a CD-RW it stands Read-Write which means you can burn to it and write to it multiple times. Then erase and write to it again.

Most of the responses are correct. You can use CD+/- R/RW as well as DVD +/- R/RW & DVD-DL discs. The media that you use is dependent upon the writing device. i.e. if you have a cd burner you can only use CD +/- R/RW (and even this is a generalization). Your writer will specify which media (disc's) that you can use w/ your specific equipment.

As for the information that you put on the disc's, it doesn't matter. Music/ pictures/ programs etc.

Yes, you can use a CD-R to record any kind of files, but once recorded on the disc, you can't delete them. The CD-RW discs are for write, rewrite and delete files from the disc. I recommend you to use a CD-R to record all the data that you want (regarding the disc capacity storage) and close it, so you can read it later on almost every other PC.

Yes, you can use a CD-R. It's just that most people use them for audio, however they are files just like your pictures. Just use a burning program to save your pics.

Good Luck!

you can use CD-R and CD-RW's it doesn't matter.

I recommend CD-R's, they are way cheaper than CD-RW'S because the last ones are rewritable. You can delete them. You can't delete music in CD-R's but I think you can delete pictures and files.
