dude is just a slang term for a male, sometimes used as a greeting 'what's up dude', meaning hello what is going on in your life these days, or it can be used as 'duuuuuuuuude' which means you are doing something silly or ridiculous, my sister actually used it as a nickname for her son, instead of patrick he was just dude. no deep meaning, just another one of those things! i hope this helped you!

It can be used as a term of description (eg. That "dude" over there) Refers to males only.

It can also be used as an exclamatory phrase (eg: "dude!" I can't believe that just happened)

Educated people do not use the word DUDE. It's annoying, unless a really hot guy says it of course, then it might be bearable

It's a friendly term for a male, and generally means "fellow" or for Brits, "mate." In the 1960's and 1970's, the equivalent was, "man," as in, "Hey, man, how are you doing?"

It means "guy." However, it can used in different "tones." "Hey, Dude" in a friendly tone is like "Hi, guy." "Hey, DUDE", in a nasty or rude tone implies a put-down.

Over all.. It's just a slang for guy or man.
