Among some of the things he said in an interview, Bush called Lay a "good guy", and called him "a generous person". Bush also says that he "respected him". Is the President even on the same planet with the rest of the world? This guy swindled millions of dollars from innocent people, and the president of the United States calles him a "good guy", and even says he plans to write Lay's widow a letter? Instead, he should write a letter to all of those people who lost their entire life savings because of Kenneth Lay, and explain to them about how "good" and "generous" Kenneth Lay was.

Yes, I also have a problem of Bush's relationships with Jack Abramoff and Tom DeLay but since his Republican cronies love those fellows too, I don't see a change anytime soon.

Bush is obviously speaking about the side of lay that he knows. When they go and arrest a serial killer, the neighbors all say, "he was a nice guy". That doesn't mean he didn't have a bad side that they did not see.

As for his crimes, even the prosecutor admits the most guilty party in the enron scandle was the one they gave a break to for testifying against Bush's friend.

I have a problem with it, but remember Lay's ties to Texas and who was in power in Texas during Lay's climb to power in the energy sector...Daddy Bush. The had long running relationships.
