The American slave owners never gave them the chance to organize and form a movement to free themselves.
And, BTW, 'The Great Emancipator' didn't have the best interest of the slaves in the south at heart when he signed the emancipation proclamation, believe me. if he had had his way, there would be no 'African-Americans' in the United States to speak of.

Because the life in the islands was different. Aswell as a "fight against an established people in hundredrs of miles of terretory is not smart...a fight aginst 10% of the population in a small area smarter...
