I am starting to get pregnancy acne and my doctor said I can't use my prescription meds because Benzol Peroxide is bad for the fetus. She said I can use anything with Salycilic Acid in it, but I have had no luck in the past with it and it just drys my face and makes it peely.

What have some of you used that has worked? Thanks!

I also have very sensetive skin. So I have to be careful with what I choose.

I know I know I know!!! When I was pregnant my hormones went out of whack as well and i was covered all over my body!!! It was horrible. Not that I have clear skin now but when I was pregnant it was real bad.

anyway....yeh no prescription meds for your face!!!

BUT I used just a regular dial bar soap it helped some. Or marykay sells acne cleanser Velocity, that helps too!

Good luck! Mine never really went away tell after the baby was here.

My doctor told me antibacterial soap (dial) is best to use...they tell us lots of crap!!! lol Like to use moisturizer but that breaks me out bad. So do what you can, wear makeup! and smile!

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

I Know exactly what you mean....I use those little cloths. The Equate ones actually work better on my face and arms for that fact than the expensive ones. But because of the hormones you won't get rid of them as quickly and are prone to more breakouts in more areas. Like embarrassing areas. I've always had acne problems but while i was pregnant (both times) I got it everywhere it seemed. My chest especially. I hope this helps...

Just lots of water did the trick on me. I made sure I have my 8 glasses of water each day and ate a lot of fruits and salad while I was pregnant. I reckon that I only had few outbreaks but by the time my hormones settled (around 2nd or 3rd month of pregnancy), my face cleared as well. Try not to use medications or ointments at this point as the chemicals may have reactions to your baby.

I also had pregnancy acne with my son. I also have sensitive skin so my doctor recommended PanOxyl it is a antibacterial acne gel and is water base for sensitive skin. Worked for me....and it is something you can buy right at the pharmacy.

Try using the Dove soap bar. Its a good way to cleanse your face. make a soapy lather and just use a circular motion and clean your face. Wash with warm to not-so -hot water and rinse with cold water. Try this in the morning and before you go to bed. Mosturize with Vaseline Intense care lotion- a small amount {like a pearl size} this should help. All those heavy abrasive cleasers dry your face out!

I am pregnant too and experiencing the same thing. I get a lot of acne on my face and what i usually do is put Listerine or toothpaste on them and they dry up. If blemishes are left on your face you can use coco butter to get rid of them. Works for me!

After you use one of the products, just apply something like vasoline intensive care lotion on your skin, or oil of olay. Neutrogena make those great little acne bar soaps with salycillic acid already in them and in gentle formulas.
