Have the English media been guilty of jeopordising the chances of the England football team by hounding out the 2 best coaches in recent times for political reasons and not for lack of footballing knowledge?

Probably weren't fair on Terry Venables, but it looks like he is coming back to be Steve McLaren's wise old head, so he has a second chance there. He will hopefully exude a more positive, adventurous approach on England tactics.

As for Glenn Hoddle being the best coach in recent times? Hmm. His grasp of tactics is very sound (he got victories over France, Italy and Portugal as well as a barn-storming draw in Rome so he's fine in that respect) but his man-management skills seem to leave a lot to be desired. Any coincidence that everywhere he has managed, there have been players complaining of a patronising and arrogant attitude?

I think the media did us a favour by helping Hoddle out of the door. The FA were far too spineless at the time. In the last few matches of his career, things weren't working. You could see the players were either confused, fed up or just didn't want to play for him. The England team was like a ship in stormy seas heading towards rocks.

Yes but on the plus side they also helped get rid of Taylor. Although even that was pretty despicable as I think he is a Gent and enjoy reading his views in the paper.
