Ha ha... In the US I have had 2 dalmatians, tadpoles, caterpillars, praying mantises, cecropia moths, 3 Syrian hamsters, 1 dwarf hamster, a golden retriever, 4 cockatiels (1 hand-raised), 3 peacocks, button quail, a prairie rat snake, 2 parakeets, a turle named Dove, bettas, aquarium fish, mice, 2 ring necked turtle doves, and 3 cats. During my time in Guatemala, I adopted a beautiful stray puppy who became my closest frind (I unfortunately had to give her away when I got ill and had to return), I had a kitten, a rabbit (a gift from my neighbors), and a small stallion. In my rescue and rehab work I have had grouse, quail, orphaned kittens, squirrels, songbirds, a kingfisher, a corn snake, fawns, a bat, field mice, and I bottle fed an orphaned fox cub. In my current job, I am responsible for the health and well-being of over 900,000 mice and rats! For a development project, I am attempting to import 30 breeding sheep to a foreign country.

Most unusual experience? Training a fox cub to hunt mice in my back yard with the neighbors looking on in puzzlement, gelding my own horse, and splinting the wing of an injured grouse.

I have had 3 dogs, 3 cats, at least 10 hermit crabs, about a bazillion fish, 1 milk snake, 1 leopard gecko, but the most unique are my two Short Tailed Opossums.

Well I had an orphaned Robin as a pet it was awesome he would land on your head when you called him inside at night...lol when he was old enough and after we taught him to catch worms he flew away and hopefully lived to a ripe old age. We also raised 4 baby squirrels that were also orphaned and they ran off with another squirrel when they got older. My favorite though was the 2 baby beavers we saved they were so cute!! we used to take them swimming with us and we had to bottle feed them and eventually cut tree limbs for them to eat...it was so awesome I will never forget the experience!! Unfortunately a dog killed one of them while we were staying at a lake and the other one we had to give to a wildlife sanctuary because we couldnt provide a natural habitat for him to live in at our house once he got bigger (kids swimming pool was ok for them when young but not as an adult). Still it was unforgettable and I will never forget my Sunny and Andy!! They were my babies! and if ever you heard the sounds they make it would melt your heart they sound like human babies kind of.

When I was a kid, I raised caterpillars since the landlord wouldn't let us have a "real" pet. Then my sister complained about how mean the landlord was, ( within his earshot,) and he let us have cats. Later when we moved to the house my parents bought, we had many other pets: dogs, rats, fish, tree frogs, a big toad, a pigeon, and hermit crabs. The most unusual were my horny toads (horned lizards.) We caught one in the desert and I bought the other it was orange,) at a local pet store . Now-a-days, horny toads are endangered and you have to have a license to keep them.
Other pets: my sister also had a horse. And later, my kids had rabbits, a guinea pig, a gecko, a smooth green snake, alligator lizards and 6 ducks. The muscovy ducks were unusual because they do not quack so they don't bother your neighbors. They hiss like geese.
