Do you mean legally? Money is generated when:
- demand is strong
- Supply is low
- Certain risks are involved, the payoff is good and you can afford to take a gamble.
- The timing is right and you're playing the spread on something

I know this sounds obvious, but a lot of people ignore it. Do something nobody wants to do but everybody wants done. it will suck, but you'll make some good money. sell something that is in high demand. Sell or do something that involves considerable risk, either physical or financial, if you can afford the consequences. Buying and selling racehorces would fall into this category, for instance, as you could drop $50,000 on a complete dud, OR you could win races, and you don't know until you're "in". Try putting your money in some hot stock if you want, but understand the market timing, why the stock is perceived to be of value, and what you'll lose if you're wrong.

Never chase after good money with bad -- don't take on debt to make a gamble, because you could simply end up with debt and no reward.

Well yes, you do need some form of suitable employment, but you also need sufficient education and training in the respective field you wish to enter. Find out what you like to do and pursue that and make it your goal to become sucessful in that field.
