You need a work permit if you are under 16.

Most retail/fast food establishments require that you be at least 16 regardless of the position. For the record (since someone already mentioned it), Schnucks will hire you only as a bagger if you are 16.

Try checking out your neighborhood for babysitting, dog walking or yardwork.

Some fast food restaurants do hire 15 year olds, but you have to have a work permit and can only work certain hours. Most places shy away from them though, because the laws are so strict that they can be really hard to follow. I was a manager for McDonald's and we hired 15 year olds. They could only work from 8 am (I think) to 7 pm during a "non-school week". During a school week they could only work Saturday and Sunday. They couldn't work more than 8 hours in a day, and the list of things that they couldn't do was longer than my arm. Good luck.

I have been hiring some jr. high boys in the neighborhood to do my lawn care. I suggest you decide what you can and are willing to do that you can be upbeat about. Just offering your time can be a way to get involved with your neighbors. Be sure to offer specific information about yourself too.
