The land belongs to both of them but neither side wants to hear that. In the bible, Elohim (god) gave the Israelis the land to conquer during the times of Moses and Joshua. Then after King Solomon, the people were divided against themselves and formed two kingdoms - Israel and Judah.
Years later, Elohim allowed the children of Israel to be conquered for their disobedience to his covenant (laws). The lands of Israel and Judah were ruled by the Babylonians, Medes, Persians...for roughly half a century. Then, the children of Israel were allowed to rebuild the city of Jerusalem that was once theirs.
In recent times (1948) there was a war that began the independence of Israel and the land was divided into Egypt, Transjordan, and Israel.

Well they haven't been at war since the Bible because Palestinians haven't even been around that long.
If it's a question of who was there first, the Neanderthals were, but between the two, Israel has a couple thousand years on the Palestinians. When the Arabs conquered the region shortly after the death of Muhammed, the Palestinians slowly moved in and began to become a nation of their own. They had a right to be upset when the UN established the State of Israel on their land, but no more right than the Jews had to be upset when Arab Muslims conquered their homeland.
The reality is, the modern-day state of Israel has existed since 1948. Someone born in that year is now 58 years old. More significant, perhaps, is that the Ottoman Empire lost control of the area in 1917 during World War I, meaning someone born in the last year of Muslim control of Palestine is now 90 years old. Prior to this, the region was under control of the Ottomans (Turks) for hundreds of years. Israel has offered the Palestinians something they have never had before in their history as a nation-- an independent Palestinian state. Their only requirements are that the Palestinians acknowledge the right of the State of Israel to exist and to stop their attacks on Israel. I'm not saying Israel is entirely blameless, but they have repeatedly tried to reach a lasting peace, while the Palestinians elect a government that does not even pretend to want peace. Hamas wants Israel gone, in no uncertain terms, and is not afraid to announce this to anyone who will ask. When faced with this, what choice does Israel have? She must defend herself and her people. The conflict will only end when Palestine accepts the idea of coexisting with Israel.

It's never going to end. There will always be hostility between these two hot-headed societies. What the U. S. needs to do is withdraw its influence and let the situation play out on its own. The truth of the matter is that we walk a fine line when we play sugar daddy to Israel. If we offend the rest of the Arab world too badly, we may just end up cutting off our own petroleum supply.

I actually have blended emotions about the Israeli authorities. i do not take any of the non secular stuff into interest because i don't believe that faith has an section in the geopolitical section. We shouldn't perform as a theocracy because...properly...it really is not what we are. anyhow, i love having Israel as an best buddy, and that i help their rights to exist and take care of themselves adversarial to any u . s . a . that seeks to damage them. together, i do not help a number of their guidelines, highly their persevered develop of settlements that many experts believe are in violation of international regulation. i imagine the Israeli authorities ought to take care of the Palestinian human beings extra acceptable than they do. That reported, element of me needs that we may merely stay out of that conflict fullyyt. after all, peace won't be able to in any respect be executed if both Israelis or Palestinians are not prepared to artwork for it.

If the Palestinians would leave Isreal alone, stop suicide bombing and killing the Jews at every available opportunity, there would BE no problem. The Palestinian estate didn't even exist as an entity before the 1960s. They are just a group of Moslems who hate the Jews and want them eradicated. Plain and simple.

Its a volatile situation there now and if things move as they do now, its just a matter of time when the conflict would go beyond borders and get other countries to be involve in the war. The historical realities of the past and of the future points to more and more conflict and no clear sight of a solution is upcomming.

Fifty years of hate and killing, both sides need to find some way to keep a cool head; so that a war doesn't erupts every time there is a killing, kidnaping or a shot fired. THere are undoubtably folks in both communities that are not ready to give up the fight for peace, so their agitation has to be dwelt with.

1. Both Jews and Palestinians claim the entirety of each other's land
2. Both Jews and Palestinians have lived peacefully together in the same land during the crusades, sharing each other's cultures and traditions.
3. Both Jews and Palestinians trace their racial history to the same person, Abraham.
4. Both Jews and Palestinians share similar languages.
5. Both Jews and Palestinians will have to either live in equality in the same land or fight each other until one group makes the other extinct, which would be sad for them to even attempt, because it has always led to failure and defeat. Anything less than both groups accepting each other as equals in the same land, such as making 2 separate countries, would lead to constant fighting over borders to get more land, because the entire land belongs entirely to both people. Outside world powers want to see both groups of people divided with 2 seperate countries rather than promoting unity, so that they could keep the region in turmoil for their imperialist interests of keeping the region focused more on their own nation, race, than uniting as one powerful people with all the resources that they have been blessed with. And God in general doesn't favor one people over another, otherwise he would not have called all humans equal, even from a scientific point of view there is a lot of wisdom in that, because humans can prosper more if we focus on uniting as humans and not dividing and competing in arms races.
By the way if the Jews and Palestinians united as one country it would eventually lead to the rest of the middle east uniting as one country, so that then the people could concentrate on improving their material conditions, and the oil revenues of the region could be used to help the people rather than help the corrupt dictatorships maintain powerful militaries and security personnel.
Foreign capitalist world powers want to fierecely keep the region divided and ruled under corrupt dictators that use most of the wealth of their nation on themselves, so they have better chances of getting a cheaper deal on oil, and maintain the culture of poverty until the day that the region runs out of oil and then they could exploit the cheap labor/products of the countries.

If you're truly interested, I'd strongly recommend you read up on the history of the region. It's an emotional hot button, but when you get down to it, and actually read the history, Crusader1189 above is pretty much right. Most of the problem stems from Jordan!

I think it's sickening that Israel is continuing to build the wall, even though the UN told them to stop. I hate how much authority the UN has lost. It seems as though history is repeating itself. Otherwise they'd realize no good can come of a wall.
