When it comes to the worst ever, Carter has much competition. At the risk of boring you I'll give you that he was a pretty lame president. I find it curious that he received more notoriety as a humanitarian after his presidency than as a competent president. When I see Carter critique President Bush, I can't stop myself from laughing. How soon we forget!
I do find it fasinating that individuals who have never voted, don't care about politics and have the IQ of a pea when it comes to discussing things openly have a built in response on how poor Bush is doing.
When Bush took office he inherited a presidency from Clinton who did nothing to protect our country, cut down the size of the military, took power away from our covert operations which all resulted in the boldness of 9-11. Since 9-11 Bush has done what he could to prevent another attack on American soil, tried to attack the terrorist in the Middle East instead of in the heartland of America, and has remained consistent and honorable. And for all of this he gets Americans to attack him because the media portrays this Harvard Graduate as a dunce. These people are like sheep that I call sheeple, do and say whatever the Press tells them to say and think.
Although I may disagree with parts of Bush's stance, I'll never attack him personally for only doing what he thinks is necessary to protect our country. All you people who complain about Bush, please remember that you have the right to complain because Bush and his strategy is keeping your rear ends safe.

No events during the Carter administration make him the worst president ever.
James Buchanan is the worst president ever. His lack of action in the years of civil unrest while he was president led to the Civil War. He tried to enter Kansas into the Union as a slave state, actually increasing the unrest and causing that horrible period in history characterized by "bleeding Kansas", where people from all states flooded into Kansas to vote on slavery and ended up fighting one another and killing hundreds of people.
Did Jimmy Carter try to uphold slavery? Did Jimmy Carter cause a Civil War amongst his own people?
People on this site are always making fun of liberals, but it seems to me any conservative who thinks Jimmy Carter was the worst president in the history of the US at best needs a history lesson, and at worst is just too stupid to live.

Your construction of the question is suspect. Having said that, I'm not at all shocked to see the Kool-Aid drinkers jump in with the entirely predictable answer of "No, Bush is worst." Big f'ing shock there. Didn't see that coming.
Carter was honest, but not very intelligent. Clinton was fairly intelligent, but not very honest. But having said that, I'd have to go back to the 19th century for the worst ever. Grant was a great general, but a horrible President.

Your statement with a question mark has made me realize that you don't want to know about Carter, but are polling for criticism of him.
Bush is the worst president ever, anyway, so try again.

Dear Moron,
Where have you been since January 2001? ANY possibility that Carter was the worst president ever has clearly been erased, and is obliterated daily, by the current criminal in the White House.
Get a life, idiot.

Funny that this topic comes up during Bush's administration. When many many people are calling him the worst president in history. Bill Clinton never even sniffed that topic during his run.
Also, the hostages release was rumoured to have been delayed by high up contacts of Ronald Reagan and Bush Sr. until after Reagan was in power, and it was 1 day after his innauguration! Funny coincidence? Do your homework.

Carter stopped development of nuclear breeder reactors and baned reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel. This made nuclear technology much less efficient and resulted in large nuclear waste stockpiles stored on-site at plants. In contrast, the French have embraced breeder technology and fuel reprocessing, and today enjoy low-cost electricity with no emissions and little nuclear waste.
