Perhaps you can ask the US offices of the two major Swiss banks...? Some branch might offer you some support checking your papers and confirming all is OK.

There are Swiss Banks in the United States of America.
You don't go to Holland to buy a Heineken, do you?

What if the world financial system locks-up and you are not able to get your money do to a worldwide electronic bank-run?

credit cards would not work to buy tickets to get there, your local bank would be shut down for a few days, etc.
