...ten minutes after the movie has started, sits down in the row right behind you, and proceeds to carry on conversations and laugh at stuff going on onscreen?

Do you move? Do you leave? Do you get a manager?

been there done that. unfortunately it happens alot in central Texas and we have alot of those kind of boys behaving like that. I (my family can verify this) will get up and in a very loud voice tell them that everyone in the theater has paid to sit and enjoy the show. however we did not pay to watch your show so you will either refrain from talking, belching, kicking, lazor pointing, text messaging, "ipoding", "black berry" or playing with their hair or whispering"... if you continue... I will get the "security".

That's a great question. I have experienced this myself many times. At first I would sit in silence and pray for them to shut up. But I found the answer. You have to be aggressive, as they act. the think that they are bullet proof for some reason. I stood up and said "listen fellas I paid money to see this movie not listen to your black asses talk throughout the entire movie, now do I go get the Manager, or do I deal with it myself?" Generally this catches them totally off guard, as mentioned the think their bullet proof. It worked for me. I'm glad that I only had to do it once. It helps that I'm a bigger guy also.

Get a manager then watch your back when you leave the theatre just in case they decide to retaliate! OR you could waste $30 bucks or however much you spent by getting up and leaving OR you could move to another seat BUT if they are talking loudly you are going to hear them whereever you are sitting. So.....kind of a no win situation.

depending on how loud they were, if it was bearable I wouldn't do much about it, if they are really loud I would get up and leave. I'm just not the kind of person who would run and tell the manager. On the otherhand if you are one of these teenagers, be aware that it is rude and people are paying money to see the show as well.

Is it really necessary to throw in *black* before teenagers in your question? I have had this situation occur several times with white teenagers as well.

Anyway, to answer your question... I would turn around and politely ask them to be quiet. They usually comply because there is a big brawny guy sitting next to me.

hmm well when this happened to me i... haha just kidding.
but in that situation i would try to tell them to be quiet although i would bet money on it that they wouldnt care and they would probably keep talking (figuring thats how most teenagers are).
soo if they're making a lot of noise, usually those employees come through the theatre to see if anyone is making noise and they usually kick them out if they are rude.
but i would probably get the manager because it ticks me off.

The kind of movies i would go to would not appeal to a group of young black male teenagers, so i'm ok.

What I usually do is just go and get a manager. That way they can take care of it and don't feel bad about doing that because if they are bothering they probably are bothering other people too.

rarely happens to me since I don't waste much time on hollywood films. I've heard a lot of complaints about blacks in theaters, and I wondered what would happen when I went to see Tsotsi and a few walked in. They were as spellbound as everyone else.
