I want a tattoo of my sons name in another launguage

do you speak another language? before getting a tattoo of something like that you really need to think of WHY you want that. if you're irish and want your son's name in gaelic, then that's a little more understandable. same with russian or korean or whatever. names themselves don't really translate by language so much as into different writing systems (kanji, cyrillic, etc.)

but to translate your son's name into a random language that doesn't have any personal meaning to you is tacky and, uhm, stupid.

what language do you suppose 'dylan' to be?

the name 'dylan' is welsh in origin - and has no meaning.

some websites suggest it means 'sea' or 'son of the wave' but this is a misunderstanding of the passage in the mabinogion where the name first occurs. the first dylan is called 'dylan eil ton' and the mabinogion suggests this means 'sea, son of the wave'. 'eil ton' pretty much means 'son of the wave', but 'dylan' is just a name.
