The Odyssey is fictional.
The Iliad has some basis in fact. The Trojan War actually happened and some the characters existed. I visited Agamemnon's palace at the citadel of Mycenae 2 months ago and recalled some of the stuff from the Iliad. It was an awesome experience.
You can do the same thing at the excavations at Troy.
That guy who said they were for nerds doesn't know what he is talking about. They are both rousing stories regardless of whether they are based on fact, myth, or both.

Fictional. A fantastic story, but fictional literature.
The Iliad (Ancient Greek Ἰλιάς, Ilias) is, along with the Odyssey, one of the two major Greek epic poems traditionally attributed to Homer, a supposedly blind Ionian poet. Scholars dispute whether Homer existed, and whether he was one person, but it is clear that the poems spring from a long tradition of oral poetry.

The Iliad may have been real events that were exaggerated. The same could be said about The Odyssey.

sure, the bible belongs in nonfiction, no longer by way of fact that's "fact" yet seeing it quite is how we classify religious writings. It is going interior the two hundred's, interior the Dewey decimal device. human beings thoughts pass in 398.2, by way of fact it is how that literature is classed. It does not make human beings thoughts genuine. The Iliad and the Odyssey additionally are labeled in nonfiction, interior the 800's in Literature. that doesn't make any of the thoughts genuine.
