Well, to have made this "observation" that automatically qualifies you as "one of them." C'm'on, Dolly, "it takes one to know one," admit it to yourself... the rest of us know you're a mean-spirited grease-ball. MY concern is that you get in touch with your "inner self." When you realize that your "snobbery" is a smoke screen or protective device to draw attention away from your own inadequacies, then, and only then, can you hope to begin the slow and difficult journey into "being a real human." You heard the tales: people that have garnered a sensibility about life's journey... where they have developed the capasity for compasssion, and empathy and other virtues that are thus far beyond your scope... But take heart... there IS hope for everyone... even people like you. You just need to lose your present "attitude" and consider what life would be like if the world were filled with only people that were exactly like you... B-O-O-O-ring! Now that's an "eye-opener," HUH? So think twice before you cast dispersions at others 'cause your $#!+ stinks too! GET IT? GOT IT? GOOD! Now go run along and play nicely with others!

I agree that the highest caliber of people do not seem to flock to Wal-mart but they are the American working poor. Denying that this country has this class is ignorant and wrong. Instead of judging perhaps your energy could be better spent working to change the conditions that the working poor have to live in. Fight for better education for children and better wages and benefits for workers.

Just luck of the draw I guess.
Seriously, I've never seen any scummy looking people in my neighborhood.
You'll have to visit sometime.

That might be because you are an elitist. You look down on those that do no conform to your perception of what "good, clean people" look like. People will generally put forth their best efforts within their financial means. There are some, honestly, that may suffer from situational depression that may impede those efforts. Nevertheless, you are being judgmental.

Some answers are a little to harsh, Walmart does have a hygiene isle and some of there clothes are not that expensive, So what did they go to shop for? I say some people don't give a rats *** about their appearance and there isn't any excuse for that.
