If we can pull this right, then Iraq will be better off, once we quit their country. The trick is not to let the terrorists overrun the country, after we leave. So, prior to our leaving Iraq, we have to ensure that the terrorist infrastructure is destroyed.
However, as of today, Iraqi's are worse off than they were before. Not only are there terrorist strike, at random, killing innocent people, the state of security - caused due to the ongoing war - is abysmal. Bystanders can get killed anytime by terrorists, or by US security forces fighting terrorists, civil infrastructure like power, water etc. is bad everywhere, and in general, Iraq has become an extremely dangerous and chaotic place.
So, lets all hope that we win this war in Iraq sooner, and in a manner than can lead to that country's emergence as a stable democracy.

I would say that for the most part, yes the Iraqi people are better off since we removed Saddam from power. all the abuses that he perpetrated against his own country not to mention against Iran and the help and aid he gave terrorists worldwide. Last year my unit was deployed to Baquba, Iraq and to Ramadi, Iraq and while we were there we spent over 6 Billion dollars helping the communities around us on infrastructure rebuilding. Yes there were civilian deaths in our area, however I know of no one that intentionally fired on someone without first making sure that they were a bad guy. All the civilian injuries that I helped treat in the battalion aid station in which I worked were not as a result of American soldiers, rather they were caused by the terrorists trying to create problems for the democratically elected govt. Kinda like the one Iraqi contractor we had working for us that was assassinated in front of his wife, or the mother and her 2 week old little boy that were injured as a result of a mortar attack outside our post. So my answer is yes they are better off now and have the potential to 100% better after we all have trounced the terrorists there. Panther Pride Speed and Power!!!!!!!!

According to a poll in London newspapers in May, more than 75% indicated that they preferred Saddam Hussein to the U.S. led occupation.
Whether they will be better off is their business as the occupation is in direct violation of international law.

Very exciting suggestion. i think u.s. remains a primary "wannabe" aim for the Muslim extremists yet some thing might desire to be working - possibly our extra advantageous protection decrease than the Patriot Act? whilst factors of u.s. with severe profile objectives may be in hazard for preliminary terrorist plans, by way of propaganda fee, the motive is to deliver the excellent u . s . to its knees, so no State or community is quite risk-free interior the long-term. I shudder to think of what is going to take place if Obama is elected and we are all inspired to connect palms and sing "love, candy love" to thwart our sworn enemies.

You'd have to ask them.
Polls show that they want the occupiers to leave, and they beleive that their oil is being stolen, they are right.
