So those that love you, will suddenly not love you, because you have more of you to love.
Are all your family absolutely perfect, I doubt it. We all have our crosses to bear, from your Uncle losing his hair, or teeth, or whatever.
Think of your family, and the problems they have. You aren't the only one, with issues.
So one or two, might make some snide remark about your weight, but hell, that's family for you.
So just go and have fun, maybe by the next function, you can lose that weight, and hear all those complements.

Your embarassment of going to the function should be telling you something. It's time to lose weight. Before it really gets out of hand.

They're your family. They're not going to hate you just because you've gained weight. It probably offends them that you think they are that shallow.
