I have made contact. Several times. But I am not human. I am a cybornetic organism that is capable of great things, so great that they are beyond your realm of comprehension.

There are already a lot of good answers, but here's something you might not have thought of. SETIS (the search for extraterrestrial intelligence) scans radiowaves from throughout the universe looking for signs of alien intelligence. When astronomers first started listening to radio waves, all they heard was noise. The thought was that if there were alien broadcasts of some kind, they would contain non-random signals. Then neutron stars were discovered. They emit highly regular radio wave patterns. At first astronomers thought they may have discovereed intelligent life, but the signals were thought to be TOO regular. So, one question is, if we DID receive radio signals from intelligent life, would we find some OTHER way to explain it, just as we have found other ways to explain the positive tests for life returned by the Mars Viking lander, and the evidence of fossil life in the Mars meteorite found in Antarctica? It's not that there's a conspiracy, it's just that the bar for proof has been set too high.

Contact- one of my very favorite movies.

I personally do not believe that humans have ever made contact with "aliens." I believe in life in other galaxies (there are too many possibilities to ignore) and perhaps life elsewhere within our own galaxy. The problem with the universe is that it is too damn big and my puny human brain can not possibly comprehend the type of technology that we would have to have in order to make contact with extra-terrestrial beings. Then again, there was a time when people thought it was impossible for us to ever land on the moon, but that happened. So, you never know...

Assuming you mean extra terrestrials....

I think it's possible. If you reference "Drakes equation" you'll see that there are potentially thousands of potential planets with intelligent life on them in just our Galaxy alone.

Unfortunately we have only just begun to have the ability to listen or broadcast at a very limited amount over a short time span (50 years).

It's also possible that communication for our species in the future will become impossible to detect (and that might be a natural progression for other theoretical civilizations). The reason is because we will most likely use quantum entanglement to handle our communication. Why entanglement? For many reasons: It's instantaneous (doesn't follow the rules of the speed of light), it's impossible to intercept, it doesn't require line of sight....to name a few.

The more we grow in capabilities to listen and search in astronomy, the more likely we'll be able to ascertain what is out there.

I think a more exact question would be with Aliens ever make contact with US. My guess, if any aliens know about us, and are capable of getting here... well, they've probably recieved some of our TV programming, and, if they've seen any reality TV over the last few years, I'm gonna guess they're not gonna waste their time contacting us. I can't blame them.

Aliens are making contacts with humans intermittently but now we cannot perceive because of alien language. We have to discover their language first.

i have no doubt that there are other populated planets

i have grave doubts that we will ever meet the inhabitants. I certainly don't believe that any human ever has.

At any achievable speed, the distances you would need to travel would take many many generations to get there. The travellers would die or evolve into something else en route.

We might pick up a broadcast, though, that seems worth looking for, and that's what's being done (visit SETI for more).

If you were an alien, would you want to talk to humans?

Humans are aliens on planet earth.

Think about it.
We are so stupidly advanced , and i mean millions of times more advanced...

we colonised earth from some distant galaxy

No. The distances between the stars are so great that if we ever go there, or they ever come here, by the time we are face to face, 'humanity' will have disappeared, and WE shall no longer be 'human'.

Yes I talked to an alien last night. He was red and he liked candy.
