Lots of football heads out there - so tell me...what offensive sets guarantee a run...what offensive sets are better for a pass?

no more than 3 each...lets keep it simple...if you only know one each it's fine.

Don't go to madden...you spend all your time here answering questions like you are the football answer people...tell me what you think and I'll vote on the best answer from the least expected...

By the way...I played 5 years NCAA, coached high school, college, and now semi-pro. I don't know everything...but I know a Madden addict when I see one.

Good luck.

Power I; wishbone and flexbone practically guarantee a run is coming

4-wide spread sets (shotgun or not); 5-wide sets (once again, shotgun is optional) and any 1-back formation with the QB under center and the lone back playing the QB a little "too close" (which indicates the back is going to pass protect) tells me pass-first...

Any "run" formation can be passed out of and vice-versa, but those formations give me strong keys in the indicated directions, though in college ball, the advent of the "spread option" has made reading "pass-first" out of a 4-wide set risky at best...

The wing-T offense is a guarantee run offense. It is built for pulling guards and a power fullback and a quick tailback. Look up information on it and you will be hooked. I have been running it for about 25 years now. I don't pass that much but when I do I use a slot offense basically the wing-T but I have 2 receivers and 1 and possibly 2 tightends and always the tail back can run a bubble pass. Hope this helps. And this offense isn't on Madden.

I don't know of any formations that guarantee either, but just are more suited for one or the other. I'd say one of the more run-friendly formations is the old single wing, w/ a direct snap to the RB. Also, any double-tight formations with two backs tend to lean towards a run also.
As far as pass formations, obviously a 5 wide set would be pass only except for a bootleg or maybe a reverse. Same with a 4 WR set from the gun, with the added possibility of a draw play. They're not exactly deceiving formations, but if you're in a pass-only situation (or you play for Mike Martz), deception doesn't much matter.

any true football person would tell you that their is no guranteed offensive set for running or passing, not too mention not everbody has the same playbook, some offenses use a set that looks like a run to pass and vice versa and every once and a while they wil do what it looks like, but thats to keep the defense honest
