Girl don't be ashamed. Its nothing to hide especially from your mom. I can't lie though the first time i had mine i was terrified i didnt know if i should tell her or not because i thought that it was a bad thing. Its not though that is just something every woman has to go through with.

I had a friend that got her period and was to afraid to tell her mom, which is rediculous. Anyways, she didn't know anything about her period except what I told her about mine (I got mine a year earlier at 9 years old). She just kept stealing her mom's pads and flushing them down the toilet because thats what she thought was to be done with them. Anyways, she clogged up the toilet pipes in both bathrooms so bad her parent's had to call the plummer and the pipes had to be replaced (very expensive) The plumber told her parent's that the reason why the pipes where so clogged was because there were hundreds of pads backing the pipes up. Her Mom was only upset with her because she had to spend a couple thousand dollars replacing toilet pipes. She wished she would have told her sooner because then they could have talked about what she was feeling and help her when she needed explaining etc.
I thought you might enjoy this funny story. We are both married now with kids so we think this story is really funny now as we look back on it. But please don't make the same mistake as my friend. Tell your Mom, chances are she'll react the same as most mom's do and be happy that their little girl has grown into a beautiful young lady. Your Mom will be able to help you get the correct pads for your flow, answer questions about cramps and other things, and help you buy some Midol when you need it.
Good luck sweetie. I hope you get up enough courage to tell your Mom, she'll be happy for you!
*Also, if you Mom cries, like mine did. Don't think it is because it is anything you did. My Mom cried and hugged me because she was proud of me and because I was growing up, not because I did anything wrong.

She knows it was going to happen sooner or later. You can't hide it for ever. Just go up to her and say that you don't want to be a big deal. B/c when i got mine my mom told every one and when i saw all my family the next time they all came up and said weird stuff to me. So tell her you don't want to make it a big deal and i am sure she will understand your wishes.I was in 3rd grade when i started mine and it was really hard to tell my mom. and i was at school when i started and i had to tell a male nurse and my guy teacher. So i know how you feel. It is a part of growing up. All girl go though it. Your mom will be very happy and want to help you with it am every way. I am sure. and if you don't want her to help tell her. But you are going to need some one to talk to about it.

its ok! Every girl gets a period and your mom already probably knows or she knew you were gonna start soon! Just casually go up to her an say "mom, i was wondering if you could go to the store and get me some pads or tampons because i just got my period". She wont laugh or be all giggly bout it but she will say "ok ill do that now or in a couple hours."

Is this your first period? How about just asking mom if she goes to the store to get you some pads. Shes expecting it will happen sooner or later, no reason to be embarrassed. Its a "lovely" part of being a woman! LOL!

It's hard but maybe writing her a note would be easy. Say Mom I started my period, can you get me some pads? I couldn't hardly bring myself to tell my Mom either.

Ok its not a big deal. I felt the same way u did. I didnt think I could tell my mom that but I just went up to her and I said " mom I think i got my period" and it wasnt hard to tell her, the more you wait to tell her the harder itll be to tell her.

I know you are probably embarrassed - but every girl and woman goes through it - so don't be to embarrassed. I remember when I got mine (and I'm 30) - it's scary at first - but just go and talk to your mom - she can help you out - your body is changing and remember she's been through it too - if you are scared see if a friend will go with you to talk to her - but seriously - talk to your mom - I hope my daughters will come to me when this happens to them - it's all just a part of growing up and being a woman - just wait - theres so much more to enjoy ;0)

Honey she knows you're going to start. I started my first period while I was at school. The minute I got home I told my mother. After all, she needs to know so she can be buying you some pads or tampons.

Tell your mom. You will probably be able to talk with her after you tell her and she can help you through the rough times when you get it next month.
