It's too intimate to talk about the other way (lovey dovey). It's also very private. Talking about it as if it were only mechanical, creates necessary distance.

I think it's because sex is too easy nowadays. One nightstands are too common and cheating around is more of the standard or regular, which is sad. Many people don't take it seriously enough to first find love and then experience the bond. Most people merely want a quick fix. And reciting stories of making love all not is not as accepted and wanted as doing the "humpty dance" in the club's bathroom with people watching.

That's easy! There's a difference between "having sex," "doing it," etc. and "making love."

"Making love" involves having sex, of course, but there's love involved - with someone you really care deeply about - and people don't often discuss their loving physical relationships casually. It's nobody's business but their own.

People who are having sex without love talk about it the way they do because there's no "human" emotion involved...so it's just a physical act, like what animals do.
