first of all define "defeat" please. we, americans, have the best technology. even though we are debt, we are still better off than those countries. not trying to be offensive, but just take a look at Iran, there is poverty and people from there come here to have a better future. same with N.Korea. if they can defeat us and they have so m,uch sources why don't we, for a chnage, move there.....

P.S please everyone do not take thsi as an offense!

It's not cost-effective for us to fight anymore countries right now....Our military- as you have already pointed out- is stretched mad thin right now and Iran and North Korea are very powerful nations when it comes to their forces. It would be ill-advised for any nation to not use every option possible to thwart war. Diplomacy is the only good option Americans have right now. Even if America does go to both countries and win, the citizens of America will suffer greatly from the cost and the lives spent fighting. We would need the international communities help which most likely not agree to it because of their own interests, rightfully so or not. It is time that other nations have firmer and quicker responses.... but we should all know why they don't quickly show their hand...it's geopolitics/economics/foreign policy. Something that Bush has shown he knows little about!

If the U.S. wanted to, stretched thin or not, we could bomb Iran and Korea back to the stone age, and not even think of using our nuclear arsenal. However, just because you may be the most powerful player on the block, that doesn't mean you should act like it. The situation in the mideast is close enought to causing a civil war in Lebanon which could lead to WW III. Give diplomacy a chance. A lot of people may think that "just talk" is a wooses way out, but we're talking about a possible world war here. Give diplomacy a chance.

We can defeat them in a conventional war without any doubt. The nuclear threat they represent is a present and future danger that is immeasurable with certainty.
Our best course of action will be accelerated diplomacy and free trade, if possible to negotiate.
We must find the way to peace and solve the curse of hunger.

I dont see any demands to North Korea by president Busch. this is where the real danger is coming from1 I see North Korea as a threat to world peace , more so than any middle eastern country, China ,Japan ,South Korea and the Phillipines wiil all get together to act as one, is also told in the Bible.

it is the Muslim fanatics we are fighting !
Unfortunately this is not a simple battle between nations, it is a battle against terrorists.
we can dent them and keep them from regrouping and terrorising the citizens of that country and others , but as with any civil war nobody wins.
Muslim fanatics are fighting themselves and anyone who does not aspire to their ,, cruel man made rules .
We may not win ,but we will contain and even decimate, those who kill so undiscriminating
There must be NO Refuge / NO hiding place, for terrorists to operate from..

There are many nations which tried to conquer the world and ultimately failed. The last of them was Germany and before that was The British empire. Look where they are today. They had all the power and technology in their heydays.

If we wanted to, we could. One well placed nuke and our Iran troubles (and our N Korean) would be over. In both countries it is one man (each) causing the problem. Only two bullets, thats all it would take. Right?

If we use the might we have and not be unwilling to use it at full power we could end the war in all of these places and be the dictators of the world. Fortunately we do not do this.
