So you are given g(x)=2x+2 and g(3a) With that, you can already see that x=3a. Since x=3a, replace the variables in your original equation:

g(x)=2x+2
g(3a)=2(3a)+2
g(3a)=6a+2

That's it. Remember that the equation is read as "g of x is equal to .." With that said, you know that whatever is placed in as x will be replaced with whatever is given.
