I've shopped at both, and it's hard to tell. On some items Kroger seems more costly, but sometimes it seems like the other way around. I'm in Spring, just north of Houston, where HEB and Kroger are plentiful.
Thoughts?

Okay.......I know this one. HEB is cheaper...However, Wall Mart grocery store is so much cheaper. I'm a pro at shopping for groceries and I've kicked myself in the as* everytiime I go to Wall Mart because I see quite the difference in my totals. A good 30% cheaper than Kroger. No Joke.

I don't live in Houston but I have a sister there and have shopped both stores. I personally like HEB better and think they are cheaper for most staples.
Keep a list of the most common items you buy and check out the price at both stores. I'll bet HEB is cheaper. Also try buying store brands (generic) you save a lot.

Wal-Mart is the cheapest, but I think HEB is a little cheaper than Kroger. Kroger does double and triple coupons a lot but i'm not sure if HEB does. I live in Cypress TX near you!

HEB is cheaper with 40 dollars i come home with like 4 bags but Kroger's is more convenient for me, even though 40 dollars don't buy me much there.
