Recently, My husband and I received a job offer in the Bay Area. We will have to relocate and want the safest, yet a cheaper cost of living. Any suggestions as to which outlying area would be best?

It is very expensive to live in the bay area, but I think it's well worth it. The weather is great all year round, and the people here are laid back.

The prices are pretty much the same all over the bay. It all really depends on where you are relocating. You might want to find a place close to work, so you don't have to spend much on transportation. I've lived in Vallejo for over 20 years (30 minutes away from SF), and I love it there. Benicia is a small town right next to Vallejo, and is a lot safer, cleaner, etc.. The Fairfield / Vacaville / Cordelia / Suisun City area is fairly cheap as well.

If you can manage to live a little outside of the bay, go look around the Sacramento / Rocklin / Roseville / Lincoln area. Houses are a lot cheaper there.

Look in zillow.com too. Type in different cities that you are interested in staying at, and it will give you the average house price for that area. Good luck!

Normally the SF area is very expensive as you move south towards San Jose you see the prices decline but not enough for some people. If you move East towards Martinez, Pittsburg, Antioch, Livemore, Tracy, Manteca, Stockton you get even cheaper prices.

You did not specify which area you wil be working in in the Bay Area so I had to get very general on the areas as well. Good luck and welcome to the Yay Area as many call it here =)

Ha ha ha good luck finding a "cheap" place to live out there. Recently that area was ranked 7th in the nation as the most expensive places to live. How do I know this? My sister in-law lives in Santa Rosa and is moving because they can't afford to buy a house there and her husband makes over $100,000! A typical house in her area runs from $500,000 on up. If you're looking for cheap, you won't find it in the bay area.

there is not in any respect an really reliable time financially to have somewhat one - and it really is demanding to placed a cost ticket on how a lot $$ is sweet. You and your husband ought to make the inexpensive and figure out the position your money is going, and in case you may live on one income or not, and component in the extra fee of wellbeing insurance on your residing prices. Diapers are a really large fee with a new child. although the importnant element to undergo in ideas is that folk with little or no money ought to correctly be large loving dad and mom, and that your toddler in the start will not care abour some thing except being loved and fed and secure. it really is extra significant to consider when you're emotionally waiting for the duty. Having a baby transformations your finished existence, it really is astounding, yet a wide replace and also you want to be waiting for it. reliable success!

depending on where in the bay you're talking about. If it's the east bay then try the Concord area. Fremont/Newark area is ok for the south/east bay. Pinole in the north east bay....

In general terms, the further east and then further south you move the lower the price. there are of course sub-markets in every area. Highest would be Atherton/woodside/paloalto and SF and Marin. try zillow.com in different zipcodes to get a sense (though do ot really trust it for specifc property) good luck, I would rent myself
