From giving Oil Companies 3 billion dollars to drill for oil in the gulf coast at a time when they're raking in billions to starting a war with Iraq that is going to cost nearly a trillion, not to mention the loss of life as a result. We're an intelligent society why haven't we held those in government accountable.

Well the easiest answer is that ignorance is bliss. I ask myself the same question almost daily...I believe that many people do not look into what is behind the headlines and choose not to be educated about the things that really matter in our country. We have let our government run a muck not only domesticly but all over the world. Since we have become so apathetic we seem to have put ourselves in quite the hole. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!

I'm Canadian, so I might have an idea about this, being close enough to observe but far enough away for distance.

Ever heard of the expression "Bread and Circuses?" Keep 'em fed and entertained, and they shall behave.

I personally cannot believe after Katrina you didn't see full scale class warfare. And I can't believe how all of America is under the delusion that race is the question, not class.

Our Government got bigger and more powerful than the people who pay for it. Look at how waste and corruption just keep happening and no one wants to move to stop it. Our law makers all have a self serving agenda and we have been left without a leg to stand on or a voice in our Government even when we vote on an initiative it is overturned.

Because many Americans prefer to know more about American idol, and the latest in fashion trends, rather that more important issues such as our civil liberties being taken away in the name of "fighting terrorism".

A lot of Americans are also in a state of "Fear-comas". They are more than willing to give up their freedoms and liberties for the sake of feeling safe.

Benjamin Franklin once said, "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
