Because they're fighting amongst themselves and they don't have a lot of money.
That's enough to make most people not care about them. Its awful.

We tried to help in '94. There is a saying that you get the gov't you deserve. I think it applies in Somalia. Also, a lot of people are complaining because it may have somthing to do with the idea that there is not oil there. Grow up, it is called strategic national interest. Our economy runs on oil face it. Until you can get your hemp-mobile to run on magical unicorn farts, you'll have to use oil to get to your job at Starbucks.

If I remember right, the US and the UN were in Somalia. We pulled out after a failed attempt to wrestle power from the entrenched warlords who run the country.

Why should we? I mean the US. If we do, we will be labeled as greedy racists. We will be told that our only interest is for profit and/or control.
Hey, wake up. It is their country. Let them fix it. If they want to kill each other, who are we to say no? If they want to establish economic programs that result in mass starvation, let them.
The US can not, nor should not, be responsible.

Many bemuse at americans´ remarks and need to please. Somalia is in war every time some villager decides to run for office. They do not like compromise or leadership as so many other places. They need no help, you neither.
